At Valley Church, we take great care in investing in the next generation.

Our kids aged 0-5th grade are currently using God’s Big Picture Bible Storybook by N.T. Wright for our storytelling session, and the New City Catechism to learn and memorize broad Christian concepts.

What we teach

N.T. Wright’s Bible Storybook

Oration and storytelling from an adult, followed by recitation and questions from the children is a tried and true method in getting kids to internalize large concepts. With this illustrated storybook Bible, the kids will hear Biblical stories from the Old and New Testament that connect the entire story of the Bible to the centrality of Jesus. It familiarized kids with large concepts such as covenant, idolatry, new creation, and temple worship through Biblical stories. We encourage all parents to familiarize themselves with these teachings.

New City Catechism

The New City Catechism is a modern take on an evangelical catechism. Through 52 questions and answers, kids and adults alike can learn core doctrines of the Christian faith. These are designed to be memorable, and to be implanted in the life of the believer for a foundation. Along with this memorized catechism, we will also take the kids through a new memory verse every two months. We encourage parents to learn and be aware of these lessons, and the New City Catechism even has a free app for home use!
